VNC SC remote support (update)

by K Email

It appears from people coming to my other VNC SC post that others are using this software too or at least looking for information on it. Since my post last December I have used VNC SC to support family members, friends, and my pastor with various PC issues.

I have found that the encryption works great with WinXP and lower clients. When encryption is used with Vista machines the support link seems to have problems (drops the connection). I haven’t been able to determine what is happening yet. So far I have just switched to the un-encrypted for Vista because the support wasn’t dealing with sensitive data. I may try release 1.00 instead of RC23 to see if Vista works better with encryption.

Kristy Lee Cook must go

by M Email

Yes, I watch American Idol. Granted, I Tivo the shows and watch some of the performances in fast forward because they’re just not worth my while. Even 1 1/2 minute songs can seem dreadfully long when the singer has no exceptional talent. Like Kristy Lee Cook. Musical wallpaper, definitely.

It’s time for a talented male to win who stands out and is on the cutting edge of today’s musical scene. I personally would be ready for a rocker to win, like David Cook. I would really have liked to see Chris Daughtry win a couple seasons ago, but I must say, his career doesn’t seem to be hurting from not winning American Idol.

My second favorite contestant, although not a rocker, is David Archuleta. He has an incredible voice, and his performances seem confident and deliberate, not frivolous. (I’m willing to overlook the one week he forgot his lyrics, as long as it doesn’t happen again.)

My favorite girls are Carly Smithson and Brooke White, but unfortunately, I choose them mostly because there are a number of other girls I really don’t care for. Most of them are forgettable.

When I find myself watching an entire performance, and I forget about the fast forward button on my remote–that’s when I’m intrigued by what I hear!

Highland Retreat

by M Email

Last weekend, we attended our church’s annual winter camp at Highland Retreat. Saturday, the day was ridiculously cold (and so was my shower that morning, by the way), but I donned my earphones and took a walk with Alison Krauss to enjoy the rustic beauty all around. Springsteen came along with us, too, just for kicks.
